China, one of the world's oldest nations with 5000 years of written history, is located in Eastern Asia. The current population is 1.3 Billion, which is more than 20% of the total population of the world. It also has the second largest country similar in size to America. The official language is Mandarin.
Having the world's largest population and second largest economy ($7.26 trillion) and a GDP growth rate of 9.1%, China provides the largest consuming market with the most profitable development opportunities. It has become clear that America can no longer afford to ignore the importance of China in the world's political-economy; now, more then ever, the need to understand the Chinese and their market has become an issue of national importance. A monumental effort to correct the nation's educational deficiency in Chinese language and culture understanding has been launched; supported by both the private and the public sectors.
